  • Which class(es) do you teach online?

    ACCT 5312: Foundations of Accounting

  • What's the value of an MBA for today's professionals?

I believe the true value of an MBA is the synergy of training in different disciplines in business in the program and students' majors before joining the MBA program. The cultivation of interpersonal relationship, presentation skills, and professional knowledge in the MBA program can make students well-prepared to face the true challenges in the industry and to be successful in the careers they choose.

  • What's the best advice you could give your students?

Knowledge and specialization would be the foundation for your career, so we should really make efforts to learn and understand it. Other than that, don't forget that interpersonal relationships, teamwork ability, time management, and working attitude would be the key factors to make you successful in the end. Take all the opportunities when you are in the program to cultivate these abilities, and your future will be promising.

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in business or management?

People may feel that a good sense of numbers is the key factor for accounting classes. However, once you understand the logic of accounting, it is not that hard. Patience and scrutiny are more important qualities to be successful in accounting.

  • How do you see online learning affecting the future of education?

Online teaching breaks the limitations of time and location. Both students and faculty have more flexibility in studying, teaching and other interactions. However, online or remote teaching/studying requires students to be more active to do self-learning and ask questions in a timely manner.

  • Why did you start teaching?

My specialization is in financial accounting. As this is the essential topic for every student in business school, I would like to bring this interesting topic to as many people as I can. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi provides me this opportunity by offering courses via the online teaching platform, which should influence more people in a short time than face-to-face classes.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

โ€œCapital in the Twenty-First Centuryโ€ by Thomas Piketty

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know about you.

I like to travel and experience culture in different areas, regions and countries. I got education in three different countries (Taiwan, U.K. and U.S.) and visited more than 30 countries. I learned a couple of foreign languages other than English, including German and a little bit of French. This is also the reason why I chose accounting as my major and international accounting as my specialization.
