  • Certified Public Accountant in Texas since 1996
  • Inducted as a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association in 1997
  • Gained tenure and associate professor status in May 2014
  • Work experience in manufacturing, healthcare, banking and small-business accounting software
  • Active member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA) and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA®)

The learned ability to synthesize the knowledge acquired in multiple disciplines to communicate clearly with others, at all levels; to anticipate needs and concerns; to get proper feedback; and then to come up with an adequate business decision.

What's the best advice you could give your students?

Words have different meanings—always ask questions and do not make assumptions. There is no stupid question. Always ask questions. Albert Einstein said, "The important thing is not to stop questioning."

What qualities make someone particularly successful in business or management?

Paying attention to details and not forgetting the big picture; defining the real issues inside and external to the business; and thinking about multiple solutions, as there is no one right solution

How do you see online learning affecting the future of education?

More virtual interaction with students. Instructors need to acquire and develop continuously changing technological skills to maximize teaching and learning opportunities.

Why did you start teaching?

To share real-world experiences with students to highlight the importance of accounting and accounting systems in business operations and business reporting
